“The hope that takes time to arrive”

“The hope that takes time to arrive”

Towards the end of the day
when certain light hits us, suddenly,
in a certain way-
you can almost begin to access
the thoughts you once had about this place

the wheelbarrows that used to sit full of hostage rain
and the grimness, at times
of all those insignificant but long lasting
seasonal smells

Why were they so distorted
those months, when we looked at them in that way-
then?
If we could bring the person we are now
to that realisation-
what would be added?
maybe everything, it seems
at the very least, the most important parts of being alive
and allowing change to take the time that it needs to get to us.
